As one of two owners and founders, Elliott McGregor, brings 15 years of painting experience and expertise to PLE. He specializes in project management as well as advanced painting techniques and applications. His skills in project management shine as his expertise allows him to develop timelines and coordinate job flows to complete projects as efficiently as possible. He’s also an expert at painting that requires high ladders, rope access, or specialized coatings. No matter how complex your project is, he is prepared to overcome any challenge. He takes pride in PLE’s high-level team of Painters and Site Supers, effective systematic procedures, and company culture as they raise the bar for industry standards in all aspects. Nat Bailey Stadium, Yaletown Brewhouse, and Werner Luxury Homes are some projects he is most proud of as they all posed unique challenges that put PLE’s painting and project management skills to the test. In addition to being one of PLE’s founders, Elliott is also an avid world adventurer. He’s seen and experienced many parts of the world with a view from a kayak, snowmobile, surf or snowboard.

Jay Newell is one of two owners and founders of PLE Painting. He has 15 years of experience in the painting industry, and specializes in project management, estimates and finances, as well as relationship development. With his extensive amount of experience, he knows how to effectively plan projects and coordinate PLE’s team of Painters and Site Supers to minimize down time and efficiently complete projects close to or under budget. As a one of PLE’s founders, he envisioned building a company that raises the bar for industry standards that boosts the reputation of the painting industry as a whole. Seeing his great team do that through their skills, behaviour, and accomplishments provides fulfillment every day. Some of the projects Jay is most proud of include the LJ Christmas Manor, Collingwood Schools, and a variety of custom homes. All of these clients absolutely loved the work PLE did, and as projects they all required a high level of technicality. When he isn’t working, you will probably find Jay surfing on the other side of the world.

Lead Site Supervisor Ryan Smith has been in the painting industry for 9 years. As a Lead Site Supervisor, Ryan is exceptional at planning tasks to maximize efficiency, and maintaining a high level of detail while painting at a fast pace. What attracted him to PLE, is their strong team moral and high-end projects. After painting numerous unique projects, painting the iconic Nat Bailey stadium is one of the projects he is most proud of. Not only is Ryan outstanding as a painter, as an Electronic Dance Music producer he is award winning. In 2018 he won the “Electronic Dance Music Artist of the Year” at the Niagra Music Awards.

Mitch Smythe is a Site Supervisor with 7 years of experience in the painting industry. He takes pride in ensuring projects are executed to the highest standards from beginning to end. From prep work, to finishes and fine details, Mitch ensures his team does an outstanding job. In addition to taking pride in his work, he takes pride in working for a painting company committed to raising the bar for employee and client satisfaction. For Mitch, one of the most rewarding things about his job is taking high end homes to the next level, particularly through luxury staining. One interesting fact about Mitch is that he truly enjoys learning about other cultures from the diverse PLE team.

Shaun Wagemen is one of our talented Site Supervisors as well as our equipment manager. With high end projects comes high end equipment, and he’s responsible ensuring it’s all in top shape. And, as a Site Supervisor, Shaun’s skills shine when it comes to customer relations and project management. With Shaun’s skills he could be painting for a number of painting companies, but for him, PLE feels like family. One of the projects Shaun is most proud of is the Vancouver Scanline VFX building as it is one of the largest he has ever worked on. Outside of work Shaun loves to travel and has even spent some time living in Vietnam.
